It is very extremely irritating when people who proclaim to be higher than the average Singaporean or people who proclaim that they are not true Singaporean and those who roll eyes at Singaporeans, just look at the floods and shake their legs and say, “Well, in my own country things like this happen all the time! Why do all these miserly Singaporeans make SUCH a fuss out of a flood! Earthquakes and Hurricanes occur in my country all the time! Just a flood and Singaporeans are making such a Fuss! Oh well, i suppose it is expected, since they ARE Singaporeans. Naturally they will make a fuss”. After this, they will proceed to the mirror to stare at their face for about 5 minutes, admiring their facial feature that shows signs that they have a great-grandfather of another race, thus making them special.
As they lie on their high and mighty sofas, smile their ‘know-it-all’ smiles, shake their legs and think such thoughts, i would like to say for ANY country, when something that doesn’t happen normally happens, NATURALLY people will PANIC. It is a natural human instinct. Sitting in front of their computer screens and saying that fussing and taking action because of a flood is such a Singaporean and ‘uncool’ thing to do perhaps make these people feel cool.
Or when there is some kind of protest going on in Singapore, they will be all..”Gosh! Why are they sooooo persistent! Don’t they have MUCH better things to do? How Kiasu! How Singaporean! I’m glad i’m not like them! I’m cooler than them!”
and then.. when there is a protest going on in New York, they will be all “Wow, the New York Spirit! Amazing. The vibe of New York is so amazing. Wow! The way the New Yorkers protest! Such spirit! Such passion! Singapore can learn a thing or 2 from them!”
Isn’t it such an irony that they are the ones who keep complaining and complaining and complaining?
